“Find the very thing you lack in life, the hardest thing for you to do and look for ways to fill that bucket”

Hi and welcome to my blog! I’m Stephanie. I hope this blog and my collection of gratitude quotes is a place to find hope, inspiration and encouragement to incorporate a sense of gratitude into your life.

The Blog I Intended to Write

Although I am a published writer and manage the content for other non-profit and commercial websites, this is my first personal blog. It is completely outside of my comfort zone because this isn’t the blog I actually thought I’d have. The blog I planned was a “moms blog” about all the wacky things that I do as a mom or that my kids or husband do. Trust me, we do a lot of wacky things. It was filled with humor and insight and encouragement, but mostly humor. And stories about what a bad driver I am. Lol.

So, after I bought the “moms blog” domain, after I planned the site structure and content, after I did all this important and worthy work, I prayed for God’s blessing and guidance. And He lead me to do something else. I was not happy. Note to self: Ask God FIRST next time.

The Challenge To Do What I Was Meant To Do

What, then, did God lead me to do instead? It was to “find the very thing you lack in life, the hardest thing for you to do and look for ways to fill that bucket”. Write about that.

In the last few years, I’ve faced some very difficult personal circumstances in my life – my husband’s 2 ½ year unemployment and it’s resulting financial strain, the death of my brother-in-law from brain cancer at age 48, the devastation of my best friend’s husband’s suicide, and lots of other heartbreaking moments. These things have really challenged me to fully appreciate the people and the blessings in my life in the midst of disappointing circumstances.

And so my blog is about gratitude. I am not a gratitude expert. I am someone seeking to learn more about it and fill my life with it. This is a blog about something I needed more of, not something I already knew. It’s forcing me to look beyond my present circumstances for God’s peace, protection and provision.
