Photo with Quote: Love Never Fails

I designed this cute graphic for my niece’s wedding scrapbook in her wedding colors of purple and grey. Her bridal shower is later this afternoon. (Shh! It’s a surprise!) She’s the first niece to get married (I have NINE sister-in-laws!) so it’s very exciting. I could not be more proud of the woman she has become.
LOVE. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. ~ from First Corinthians 13:7-8 - a picture quote from

Thankful Thursday: Snow Days

"Thank goodness for the first snow, it was a reminder--no matter how old you became and how much you'd seen, things could still be new if you were willing to believe they still mattered." ~ Candace Bushnell

Thankful Thursday: Snow Days

My children have had a few days off recently because of the snow and extreme cold temperatures. Even though they were home almost 2 weeks for Christmas vacation, they still cheered and squealed as if they won the lottery. The same children who sat around playing video games and picking fights with each other and lamenting how bored they were just days earlier, suddenly had a zeal for life that a prisoner has when he’s received the news of a pardon. Freedom! No school! Singing erupted… “Do you want to build a snowman… “

Can you remember a time in your life when you were that happy? What is it about snow days that makes them so special? I think it has to do with “found time”.

“Found time” is when you unexpectedly get time or an experience that you didn’t anticipate you’d have and you get to spend that time in whatever way you want. It’s a bonus day. An extra hour. A moment to escape the normalness of your life.

It’s the same way most moms feel when they get to use the bathroom alone for 5 minutes without being interrupted.

Or how a cancer patient feels in remission.

It’s how a military family feels when their soldier returns home safe from deployment.

Or how a parent feels when the baby the doctors said would never live does, if only for a few precious hours.

Found time.

Oh, that we would realize all time here on earth is really just “found time”. It’s temporary and fleeting and anything but normal. Don’t wait for a special occasion to live as if life is special. Live it out now!

Thank You Moment

Today, I am thankful for the adversity and loss that has given me the perspective that all time is “found time”… to be spent as deliciously as a snow day.
